Golf is the centerpiece of member and family life at Stockdale Country Club. Immaculate conditions and seasonal changes make Stockdale a year-round haven for the finest golf in California's central valley.

When the founders of Stockdale Country Club created Bakersfield's premier golf facility more than 85 years ago, their goal was to develop a community that blended pristine playing conditions with a sophisticated social setting. The original vision and legacy lives on today as second, third, and fourth generations of the Club's founding families experience the competitive challenge of our 18-hole course.

It's a traditional layout. Tight yet fair. Challenging, yet not overwhelming. It's a course where kids learn to love the game. Where old-timers' play at their own pace. And where business executives have afternoon "meetings" in a 30 acre conference room that is bordered by Bakersfield's most historic, exclusive neighborhood.

It's a course you can walk even in the heat of the summer, as there is an abundance of shade and a frequent breeze. The tree-lined fairways and manicured greens emphasize accuracy over distance. Keep it straight, focus on your short game, and you will score well at Stockdale.

Stockdale Country Club offers members the opportunity to play in a variety of organized golf events. Throughout the year we routinely host tournaments, couples golf, and twilight competitions. We embrace the concept of participation regardless of skill level. The friendly atmosphere, beautiful environment and post-event parties bring members together for social interaction.

On the Course

We have in place our Family Golf Tees, that is a set of forward, and middle forward tees for our children and beginning golfers to play on, we have a junior scorecard that they can keep so that when they go out and play with you they can compare how they are doing against you on a more fair and not so long of a golf course. The most forward set of tees are 1800 yards for 18 holes and the next set is at 3600 yards, and then they can play from the Red, White and Blue tees depending on their ability. We encourage all children to be walking when you take them out to play as when they play in events they have to walk.

Grandchildren Play

Grandchildren of members under the age of 26 may come out with the grandparent and play during the month with no limit on the number of times, as long as the grandparent is with them at all times while they are on the course. Grandparents do not have to be playing but they do have to be on the course.

Junior Golf

Our goal is to develop the interest of each participant (ages 6 to 17) in the sport of Golf, emphasizing etiquette, fun, rules, and the fundamentals of the game.
